Attorneys/Paralegals
"I just wanted to take a moment to let you know how much I rely on 'Litigation By The Numbers' in my litigation practice. I have been a construction litigator for over 27 years, and there is one thing that I have learned and that is how inportant it is for the attorney to be knowledgeable concerning deadlines, forms and formats and not rely solely on support staff or more experienced attorneys. I know that a lot of attorneys rely on their secretaries to keep track of this information but I have spoken to many attorneys who have horror stories of losing a secretary and finding themselves lost and unable to function. ..." "I had to do a fax filing of a demurrer yesterday. I flipped to the right section in your book and, voila! Everything was right there, with simple, easy-to-understand and comprehensive step-by-step instructions. I have to say, I honestly think your book is even more valuable than Rutter and CEB. No lawyer should be without it. This book should be at the top of the list of gifts to give any budding lawyer who has just pased the bar. It's the gift that keeps on giving! Julie, many thanks for writing this book! You've helped lawyers everywhere!"
Eugene Lee, Attorney, Los Angeles, California
"This book has made training legal staff on how to do their daily tasks immeasurably easier. I would highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to minimize the time necessary to get the staff up to speed on legal procedures."
Steven G. Mehta, Attorney and Past Chair of the California State Bar, Solo and Small Firm Section

"Just rec'd your Substantive Companion. I have also been using Litigation by the Numbers.
I am primarily, and have been for 20 years or so, a secretary/legal assistant in the area of workers' compensation defense. As a result, civil litigation is foreign to me and as a creature of habit, daunting to have to learn. I've pretty much been learning through trial and error (hopefully less of the latter).
I just wanted to let you know that the Litigation by the Numbers has been invaluable to me, and after receiving the companion yesterday, I've already referred to it as well. Thanks for creating easy to understand materials and instructions on how to work my way through this new world. It's especially nice to have descriptions on procedures rather than just having to prepare docs without a complete understanding of their purpose, etc.
Keep the help coming!!"
Very truly yours,
Rhonda Sheppard Legal Assistant to Brian L. Duncan

"Litigation By The Numbers is just EXCELLENT!! If only I'd had a copy of this book when I first began my legal work. In my opinion as an educator (I teach Legal Office Procedures) and a legal professional, everyone should order a copy!"

"I have been a legal secretary/legal assistant for almost 30 years. With the numerous, frequent changes occurring in the court system, and working with attorneys with diverse practices, there are always matters that arise that I do not perform on a daily basis and require some research. I can depend on Litigation by the Numbers as a research tool to get me through assignments in the less frequented areas. The step-by-step format allows me to feel confident that I have covered everything necessary to get my paperwork completed properly. It has proven to be an invaluable tool for a number of years. Thank you."
Penny Altman, Levy, McMahon & Levin
"Julie, during my temping days, your book was my second Bible. While temping, I was offered full-time placement at every assignment, and am happy to let you know that I have since accepted a permanent, full-time position with a powerhouse firm in Century City. Thanks!"

Instructors throughout California use Litigation By The Numbers® as a legal secretary textbook and as a paralegal textbook for courses in:
Many of our self-represented individuals use Litigation By The Numbers® to learn which form to use, to lead them to applicable codes and rules, for filing and service deadlines, etc. Often they have used a more substantive book (i.e., one that explains their rights, what they would have to prove, identifies their causes of action), but they still don't know how procedurally to get it before the court, how to serve the other side, how to conduct discovery, how to request court intervention ....
Law librarians in large and small counties all over California use Litigation By The Numbers® to help self-represented individuals find their way through the California Code of Civil Procedure, Judicial Council forms, and the California Rules of Court.
