On July 29, 2009, the Judicial Council voted to close all state courts (Superior Courts, Courts of Appeal, and Supreme Court) on the 3rd Wednesday of each month, from September 2009 through June 2010. Those Wednesdays are legal holidays (non-court days) for purposes of calculating deadlines.
At its January 21, 2010 meeting, the Judicial Council approved continuing the 3rd Wednesday of the month court closure days through June 2010 with "limited closures" if necessary thereafter. Access the full report here: http://www.courtinfo.ca.gov/jc/documents/reports/012110item3.pdf
The court closure issue will be addressed again at the April 23, 2010 meeting.

Be careful when you're calendaring deadlines!
